Preschool Playgroup

Service Description

Join our social skills group targeting early preschool skills through interactive sensory experiences, books, crafts, and cooperative games. Each session will focus on following directions, taking turns, impulse control, being respectful, showing empathy, participating in adult-led activities, using words when frustrated, sticking with the group, giving and sharing and more! This group is perfect for kids who struggle to play with peers, often have too much energy, or struggle to engage in a group setting. Children must be comfortable to participate separate from a caregiver for the hour. Please check out our other groups if your child isn't quite ready to participate without a caregiver present! This group is for preschool children with an emphasis on the foundational skills needed for improved peer interactions. Each week our therapists will lead the group in crafts, movement activities, and play while educating caregivers on developmental milestones and how to encourage optimal development! We will also incorporate activities that address: - Social emotional development: recognizing social cues, following expected behaviors, self-regulation strategies, impulse control, staying with the group - Cognitive development: following directions, staying on task - Sensory processing: helping your child learn how to process input from the senses and understand where their body is in space - Fine motor development: pre-writing skills, hand strengthening and cutting skills and motor planning - Language development: expressive & receptive, phonemic awareness, pre-reading development, peer interactions - Gross motor development: strength, balance, and coordination
